Various factors contribute to anemia in dogs. Everything from fleas to genetic diseases can cause bleeding and loss of blood which will result in a low blood cell count.

Some symptoms of anemia may be vomiting, weight loss, weakness or lethargy or yellow skin. Sometimes there are no symptoms at all, especially if the anemia is not from any diseases.

To prevent dog anemia you must first find out what is causing the problem. A veterinarian can run a blood test and you will know right away if your dog has a low blood cell count. If the test reveals no serious illness there are steps you can take to prevent dog anemia.

Natural and home remedies for pet anemia have been used quite successfully by pet owners and holistic veterinarians. These include;

--Feeding your dog a well balanced natural diet of premium dog food or raw food with plenty of protein.

--Adding some liver and green veggies to his diet; both help the liver and the blood. Do not however add onions or garlic as they are toxic and contain substances called sulfoxides and disulfides, which can damage red blood cells causing anemia. Cats are more likely to be affected by this but why take the chance.

--Use a natural flea and tick collar. Commercial type flea collars with chemicals like cyphenothrin and permethrin are synthetic toxic poisons that can weaken our pet's immune systems. Beside skin irritations and hair loss, flea dips have been shown to cause cancer. The popular spot-in products may be convenient but there were over 40,000 reported cases of side effects in just the US. The problems affected their coat, digestion and nervous system and some dogs died; the smaller the dog the more problems naturally. Do we really want our pets to be exposed to these chemicals? Would you?

--Supplements like nutritional yeast, kelp, vitamin C and the B vitamins can help build the blood and also strengthen their immune system.

--Some herbal formulas and herbs that cleanse the blood and help the liver are red clover, yellow dock, burdock, raspberry, dandelion, echinacea, ashwagandha and milk thistle. You can find these or a combination of various herbs in homeopathic dog formulas.

Our pets are family and we don't like to see them sick or suffering. If they are experiencing symptoms like lethargy from a fever, pain of any type or not eating this is the time for a vet visit to rule out anything serious.

People have written and asked "What could be the possible reasons for blood in my cat's stool? This is what I found:

--Do they have an infection?

--Did they ingest a foreign object that could possibly be making its way through the intestine and causing a puncture wound?

--Did they ingest rat or mouse poison which causes internal bleeding?

--Are they constipated? Do they have hemorrhoids from constipation?

Reasons for blood in my cat's stool were from constipation and only required a change in her diet. I switched to canned food because it does contain moisture and the meat cats crave, which dry food does not. I also bought one of those water fountains which encouraged both of my cat's to drink more water. They are actually intrigued by the fountain. I think they can't figure out where the water is coming from and being such curious creatures they are always amused by it.

My situation with my cat was simple and easily fixed, but the vet said that other reasons for blood in my cat's stool could also have been from colitis or colon inflammation, something more serious or even other straightforward reasons which still need to be checked out. Things like;

--dairy products (cat's don't need dairy)

--cereal additives which cause allergies

--table food that contain spices and causes irritation

--worms or parasites

--bowel diseases

--bacteria from salmonella or E. coli

--stress can also cause irritable bowels

--Urinary stress, bladder infections, kidney infections or disease

The vet gave me excellent reasons for blood in my cat's stool that I would never have thought was possible. So now both of my cats have high quality protein food with no fillers, plenty of fresh water and a quiet place to relax. I also give them a supplement which can help them to maintain a healthy bladder and immune system health. I have noticed this supplement and change in diet has contributed to their shiny coats. They used to have dull and matted fur even though I combed them every day, but I can tell a huge difference in the way they have more energy and just look healthier. And we haven't had to go to the vet which is fine with me (and them also).

Although a veterinarian should be consulted, you can find some answers about the most common problems concerning the reasons for blood in your dog's stool. Keep in mind that serious illness and disease could also be the cause.

The possible reasons for concerns about blood in my dog's stool could be a result of parasites like the hookworm which attach to the lining of the intestinal tract, living off the dog's blood supply. If your dog is pregnant, hookworms can even travel to the unborn puppies, overrunning their small systems before they are born. Another parasite that can cause bloody diarrhea is Giardia which is transmitted pet to pet by soil, water or food. Of course there are many other parasites but not all cause symptoms or bloody diarrhea. Only a stool sample can confirm parasites in your dog.

Other than seeing blood in your dog's stool are there any other symptoms? Severe diarrhea or vomiting, is your dog eating? These symptoms can be a sign of hemorrhagic gastroenteritis or HGE which is a non-contagious disease believed to be caused by an abnormal response to bacteria and can prove fatal. Any young adult dog of every breed can be affected, but usually smaller dogs like Toy Poodles and Miniature Schnauzer seem to be affected. This disease can be treated, and if not treated, can result in death.

A veterinarian mentioned that other reasons for blood in my dog's stool could be from Parvo, if not vaccinated, infections in the bladder or kidney, eating poison or plastic, even constipation or his diet. The wrong diet, causing inflammation of the bowels, can easily be resolved by changing the diet. Stress can cause bowel flare ups as can other serious problems like kidney or bowel diseases.

Another consequence from excessive diarrhea or vomiting could be dehydration. If your dog is not properly hydrated the result could be a life or death situation. So, unless you know for sure what could be causing the blood in your dog's stool, the problem really needs to be checked out so you will no longer worry and your dog won't suffer needlessly.

Like many people, you will probably confuse this ailment with dandruff. However, these are completely two very different kinds of conditions. Dandruff itches more and have yellow scales while psoriasis has silvery scales. The problem is that psoriasis also sometimes flares up and starts itching and may spread to other parts of the body like the nape of your neck, or even your ears.

Effective Scalp Psoriasis Treatment

There are different stages of dealing with this ailment. The first step involves removal of the scales. The scales should be removed because they cover the real disease below. If they are not removed, the topical medication will not get to the skin where it is really needed. There are different methods used for removing scales, one of which involves application of lotions to damp the scalp.

After the softening, the next step is to remove the scales using brushes or combs. All through these things, you should be gentle with your scalp. If you become too rough with the brushing, you can break the skin off your scalp and even cause more infection. What is more, vigorous brushing or combing will even break off your hair.

If you have the right shampoo for your hair, you should use it. While treatment of the disease is mainly topical, there are also oral medications that can be taken in case the disease is in it later stages. All these are treatments you should only take with the advice of your physician.

Masking Symptoms of Psoriasis

Sometimes, you may wish to hide the ugly symptoms even while continuing with the treatment. Your hairstylist can come up with several ways of doing this. There are hairstyles that are very good at hiding these symptoms, and you can adopt them even if they are not your normal styles.

Corticosteroids as a Form of Scalp Psoriasis Treatment

Examples of corticosteroids that can be used in this instance include clobetasol and hydrocortisone. All these topical medications have varying potency, and it is advisable to start with the least potent ones to limit the side effects. The more potent medicines should be used only if the other ones fail to treat the disease. Again, check with your doctor before using any of these medicines.

Vitamin D3 Analogs

Vitamin D3 analogs are also used in treating psoriasis. Just like the other drugs, you should consult your doctor before using them. One of the side effects you should expect includes irritation at the site of application. The bottom line is that scalp psoriasis treatment is available and you should not suffer in silence.

Forex Expert Advisors are indeed one of the most crucial tools available in Forex trading. If you are a beginner, first of all you need to know what a Forex Expert Advisor is. It is basically a software program or robot that is able to advise traders about actions or decisions traders should carry out, such as which trades to make. The program will basically send applications automatically to a broker once you install it on the Forex online trading platform and customize the settings. The process is followed by the program, which does the trading based on the resulting strategy. As a matter of a fact, not only beginners choose to leave all the work to a Forex expert advisor. Even the most sophisticated Forex traders also rely on these robots to do the trade business. There are many benefits you can get from using an advisor that you will not get just by using your brain and skills alone.

First of all, the best benefit you can get is that the use of a Forex expert advisor will put you at ease when it comes to trading, as the decision-making is made by the program. This will make the trade itself become less worrisome or less tense. Often times, traders who do not use these tools find it difficult and stressful when it comes to decision-making, and this might affect other aspect of the traders' business that possibly result in a less successful trade outcome. Hence, an advisor will make the trader become more productive. Another benefit is that an advisor will do the calculation of the trades, and therefore it is unnecessary for you to have calculation and analysis skills. Even if you do, you might make mistakes here and there when it comes to calculations and analysis. Imagine when you have to multiply many numbers manually, it is not unusual to make a mistake and it just takes longer to get the results, hence it is better to rely on the built-in calculator. If you have trading signals coming in at any time day or night, an advisor robot is also able to take care of them automatically without your presence. As a Forex trader, you might be very busy and may be on the go a lot. Hence, a robot will help you in terms of flexibility, meaning you do not always have to be there to respond to the notifications. You can avoid the hassle of rushing to your office every so often to check trading notifications.

In addition, an advisor normally has its own specific programming language that is purposely designed to make it easier for traders to program the advisor to meet their needs. For instance, an advisor can be in the online trading mode for 24 hours a day if you program it to do so. Given the fact that foreign exchange is a very volatile business, the advisor will help you in evaluating economic trends and variables such as imports, exports, GDP and inflation. While evaluating factors without using this software can be difficult, an advisor will make you feel less stressful in making trade decisions based on the evaluation results of the economic variables. In terms of speed, these advanced tools are designed to do the trading jobs, calculations and analyses essentially in no time. You can save a lot of time using these tools, compared to doing trades without one, which might take much longer. Imagine if you have to do the calculation manually in an Excel spreadsheet, which might considerable time before it is ready; while you also have to do many other things. You might also miss some other great opportunities because you need too much time to work on the current one. Other benefits are that the Advisor can check and conduct hundreds of currency trading analyses in no time, which is impossible to be done by traders without this software tool. While it takes considerable effort for traders alone to find major deals, an expert advisor will lead you to the best deals, and will result in more trades that are successful

An injury that involves negligent medical care and treatment from a doctor or hospital in Tennessee typically falls under the Tennessee Medical Malpractice Act. Tennessee medical malpractice lawsuits must be filed within a specific time period. This time period is known as the statute of limitations. If a lawsuit is not filed within the statute of limitations, it will be forever barred.

Calculating the appropriate deadline for timely filing a medical malpractice case can be complex and there are procedural hurdles that must be strictly followed before a claim can even be filed in court. If you think you or a loved one may be the victim of medical malpractice in Tennessee, the best thing to do is contact an experienced Tennessee medical malpractice attorney immediately. This article is meant only to provide a basic overview of the law.

Statute of Limitations in General

All civil causes of actions in Tennessee, such as a breach of contract, auto accident case, or product defect lawsuit, must be filed within a specific period of time or else it can never be filed. If a lawsuit is filed outside of the statute of limitation, then the action will be subject to dismissal by the courts. In medical malpractice cases in Tennessee, the statute of limitations is generally one year from the date of injury. However, there are additional procedural hurdles that must be followed before filing a malpractice claim in Tennessee.

Provide Written Notice of the Claim within One Year

Tennessee law requires that the medical providers be given 60 days advanced written notice before a lawsuit can be filed. The pre-suit notice letter must be sent within the statute of limitations, which is typically one year from the date that the claimant knew, or should have known, about the malpractice. Moreover, the written notice must meet specific requirements. For instance, the notice must provide the following information about the claim:

  • Patient's full name
  • Patient's date of birth
  • Name and address of patient's attorney, if applicable
  • A list of all other healthcare providers being sent notice
  • A HIPAA compliant medical authorization that allows the healthcare provider to obtain complete medical records from all other providers

If the person sending the letter is someone other than the patient, the notice must include:

  • Claimant's name
  • Claimant's address
  • Claimant's relationship to patient

Pre-suit notice can be sent by personal delivery or by certified mail. If notice is provided by certified mail, it must be sent to two separate addresses. For individual healthcare providers, it must be sent to the address listed for the provider on the Tennessee Department of Health website and the providers current business address. For corporate healthcare providers, notice must be sent to the agent for service of process and the providers current business address.

The 60 Day Waiting Period and the 120 Day Statute of Limitation Extension

After written notice is sent, the claimant must wait 60 days before filing a lawsuit. If a lawsuit is filed before the 60 day waiting period expires, it will likely be dismissed by the trial court. If the pre-suit notice letter is written and sent correctly, the statute of limitations is extended for 120 days. For example, if an injury occurred on January 1, 2013, then pre-suit notice must be sent on or before December 31, 2013. If the pre-suit notice letter is sent on December 31, 2013, then the claimant must wait 60 days until March 1, 2014 to file the lawsuit. Further, the lawsuit must be filed no later than May 1, 2014 (i.e. 120 days after the one year statute of limitations).

Exceptions to the Statute of Limitations

The safest way to proceed in a medical malpractice action is to operate under the assumption that the statute of limitations is one year from the date of injury. If circumstances do not allow for this, however, there may be exceptions that you can rely upon.

For example, in cases where the injury is not discovered at the time the negligent medical act is performed, the statute of limitations will be calculated as one year from the date the person knows, or should have known, about the error. This is known as the "discovery rule." For instance, if a doctor performing back surgery operates on the wrong disc and you do not learn about the error for three months after the operation, the statute of limitations may be extended for three months.

Another exception to the general one year statute of limitations is when the injured patient is a minor child or is mentally incapacitated. Under these circumstances, the statute of limitations can be extended until one year after the minor reaches the age of majority or one year from the date the mentally incapacitated person becomes competent.

However, both of these exceptions are subject to the statute of repose, which acts as an absolute deadline for the filing of a medical malpractice case.

The Statute of Repose

The statute of repose for medical malpractice cases in Tennessee is three years from the date of injury. The statute of repose bars lawsuits filed after three years no matter when the injury is discovered and it even eliminates claims for minor children and mentally incapacitated adults. For example, in the case of a child injured during labor and delivery, the parents or guardian of the child have until the child's third birthday to send written notice to the potential defendants and then must file a lawsuit on behalf of the child within 120 days therefore. If these steps are not followed, the child's claim will be forever barred.

Exceptions to the Statute of Repose

There are, however, two exceptions to Tennessee's medical malpractice statute of repose. First, the statute of repose does not apply if the negligent medical provider fraudulently concealed his or her wrongdoing. Second, the statute of repose does not apply to cases in which an instrument is left inside a patient and the patient is unaware. Under these circumstances, the three year statute of repose does not apply and the medical malpractice lawsuit can be initiated, beginning with the written notice provision set forth above, within one year from the date of discovery of the injury.

When all else has been tried and failed as your stop snoring solution answer, then it may be time to investigate laser surgery.
This procedure is not affordable for everyone; even so it may just be the only viable solution. The procedure is suitable for people who snore due to excessive tissue blocking their breathing.
Quite simply the laser used trims and re-shapes any enlarged soft tissue that is blocking the nasal passages and throat if required, which is causing difficulty in breathing and resulting in snoring.
There seems to be two main options used for surgery. You will need to discuss these with your doctor as to what is best for you. Your doctor will need to assess where you have any health issues that may adversely affect your ability to have the recommended medical procedure.
The first is called outpatient Laser-assisted Uvulopalatoplasty (LAUP).This procedure is also used for obstructive sleep apnea (OSA). This is least expensive option and most common of the laser surgeries used for snoring problems. It is usually done in a day clinic, under local anaesthesia in about half an hour. There is no bleeding. You can eat as normal afterwards. This procedure does not affect your speech. There is a high success rate after the first treatment or though some may need a few more treatments to see a reduction in snoring. There is some discomfort after the surgery though and this will need monitoring for pain relief. Some patients though have noticed an increased dryness in their throats.
The next is the most expensive procedure. It is called Uvulopatopharyngoplasty (UPPP). This is more invasive and the laser is used to enlarge the throat by the tonsils. This is serious surgery to open up as much air passageway as required. Sometimes the surgeon removes the tonsils, some parts of your soft palate and uvula. You would be under general anaesthesia and the surgery performed in a hospital operating room. This procedure is more painful. This procedure is not without risks though especially to your speech. If the surgeon has to remove your uvula it can affect your ability to pronounce certain words, especially in some languages like Arabic.
These surgical procedures need careful consideration. You will need to really consider whether either of these are the best option for you. Snoring is definitely a serious health problem and should not be thought of lightly. Laser surgery may be your answer your stop snoring solution.

Snoring adversely affects not only those around them but can cause the person snoring to suffer from lack of oxygen. This impairs their quality of life. People who snore find that when they have right device to stop snoring, they finally awake from a great night's sleep, feeling refreshed.
There are so many causes of snoring, so there are designed numerous suitable devices to stop snoring. Here are some top devices to help stop or at least reduce the snoring.
Nasal Strips are the most popular. These are not expensive, easy to obtain, use and are drug free. These are usually made of strips of plastic, that are placed over the nose bridge and kept on all night. They work by widening the nasal passages to improve airflow.
Nasal Dilators are also very popular. Again they are easy to obtain over the counter. They are made from plastic or stainless steel coil and are placed up inside the nose. These work by keeping the nose airway passage open.
Chin Straps are suitable for people who sleep with their mouths open due to poor muscle tone. They are made of stretchy neoprene, so one size usually fits all. They fit around the back of the head and over the chin. This effectively holds the jaw shut; works rather like an athlete's mouth guard. This effectively stops any snoring by improving nasal breathing. This device is often recommended to people who snore by medical practitioners.
Snore Stopper ™, is a simple effective non surgical device, which is new in the marketplace. It is activated when the person snores to give a small electric pulse into the skin. Some can be worn around the arm or wrist. This can be a useful device to train some people who snore to stop.
Mouth Guards can be brought over the counter or custom-made. They are really plastic moulded dental appliances. If you try an over the counter one first and find it just does not fit right then your dentist can mould and fit these to suit. When placed in the mouth they work by aligning the lower jaw properly into position so keeping the airways open. These can be useful for people who snore when their tongue falls back into their throat, closing the airways.
There are a wide variety of throat sprays available over the counter. These are easy to use, applied simply by spraying down the throat before bed and if required again during the night. The spray contains natural oil which lubricates the back of the throat. Many people who snore find sprays extremely successful. Note that it is important not to exceed the recommended dosage as excessive applications can even cause snoring.
Anti-snoring devices range from the simple and not expensive, to quite complex and expensive. The majority of the devices are available though over the counter or even through mail order catalogues. If you find you do not have any success with these devices then visit your medical practitioner for further examinations.
